I first read this novel at around the same time I read Sirena (about four years ago), and I recently purchased it through Amazon.com. It's getting difficult to find in decent condition at a low price, so it's better just to buy it used.Teenage Mermaid is the story of fifteen-year-old Spencer Stone. While surfing early one morning, he almost drowns but is rescued (and kissed) by a "sparkling, golden girl." In the struggle he pulls a heart-shaped locket off her neck, and it crosses his mind that he might have been saved by a...mermaid.
Waterlilly, or "Lilly," for short, lives in the underwater community of Pacific Reefs. Unlike the other merpeople, Lilly is bored with life under the sea. When she loses her family heirloom, the heart necklace, she must convince her mermaid best friend Waverly to help her become human and go ashore to get it - as well as meet the boy she rescued.
I gave this book 4 out of 5. This novel was a humorous, modern-day twist on The Little Mermaid, and it's a fairly short read at only 160 pages. While the romance isn't very realistic (for example, Spencer grows obsessed with Lilly and believes he's truly in love with her even though the period of the novel takes place over two days), it was still a fast, lighthearted read that ends with a magical twist only a true fairy tale could ever pull off.

This book was awesome! But I do wish that it would tell me if Spencer turned in to a merman and tell me about him swimming with Lilly in the sea, and stuff like that. But over all the book was really good.
My daughter LOVES these book. She is finally reading and not on the phone
I loved this book so much. I love how there is love and mermaids in here. It's just a great book. I love everything. One thing though... Please make a 2nd book! Brad's daughter, Fallon.
Really good book. Reminds me of another book, Jake and Lily. The story varies between Jake and Lily, just as it does between spencer and Lilly. The only thing I do not like is that they never talked about Spencer's life as a merman. Boo!
I read this as apart for my childrens lit class to compare it to the original little mermaid and this book was one of suggestions. I enjoyed the book
Book was supposed to be new and arrived stained on the outside with no book cover. It was supposed to be a birthday gift for my niece. Super disappointed.
If you like the story THE LITTLE MERMAID you'll like this book.
Lily is a mermaid of the Pacific Ocean afraid she'll be sent to a boarding school in the Atlantic. Especially after she save surfer Spencer from drowning. While rescuing him he pulled Lilly's great grandmother necklace from around her neck and she goes to the local sea witch for legs to get it back. What she didn't expect in her search for Spencer was to find her true love. How can she keep the world of mermaid safe if she's in love with a human enough that she drown to see him again?
