It is a huge risk and how the book plays out is an interesting and exciting story. There is sex, punishments and other aspects of BDSM that are nicely woven into the story. While the story line is dark, it is well written, moves quickly, and gets to a satisfying ending.Product details

This story was my first (and unfortunately probably my last) read by this author. I acknowledge the author’s fantasy imagination on kidnapping and nonconsensual sexual slavery but, for me, the story’s believability was weak and bordered on ridiculous in parts.Common sense and technicalities got in the way of the storyline such as when the captor chides himself for not bringing more water when there’s a working bathroom a few steps away… I will give credit where it is due, however. When our female lead tried to escape while on an exercise run in the woods, the story escalated my interest which is why I gave it 2 stars. Unfortunately that was the most exciting part. FYI, forcing a USED butt plug into the heroine’s mouth was simply gross and off putting. In my opinion, the rescue was logistically confusing and the sexual encounter afterward was mistimed. The blurb for this book was so promising, and combined with Vonna Harper's talented writing of delightfully erotic, capture fantasies, I quickly asked for the ARC. Although the writing was good, the story itself couldn't seem to decide if it was one thing or the other. Ultimately, it was somewhat flat and lacked emotion.
I liked Shanel's character. She was strong, but human rather than invincible, and felt more balanced than many heroines of this genre. It was Hall I struggled with, or perhaps it was the rather wishy-washy way he went about "training" Shanel for a job she'd no clue about. Often the erotic parts got bogged down in the technicalities of her training, and emotions suffered as well.
The basic premise was really hard to swallow, although without it the book would have been entirely different - personally I think that might have been a better choice. Shanel was a trained cop and was selected by the organization to infiltrate a group of dangerous men. This group is all male, and decided that in order to be believable Shanel had to be "trained" for her role as a captive woman without knowing why. Only men would make such a patronizing, ridiculous choice - why couldn't they trust Shanel to go undercover without putting her through such a terrifying experience?
Ultimately the story lacked tension, and I was often confused about the motivations of the "good" guys. I was simply unable to just lose myself in the story and enjoy the guilty pleasure of a good capture fantasy.

This story was a dark read and difficult at times to continue.
Shanele Fox was an ex cop now selling real estate,she was disposable with no one to miss her.
Hall Marshall was a disillusioned ex FBI agent now working to bring down a group called the "The Takers"
Women like Shanele were being kidnapped and trained to be sex slaves.
Hall convinced Shanele to go undercover with him to bring down the takers and free the women.
This was only after he trained her to respond to his touch.Shanele's senses were in overload,she does not want to care for Hall but she develops feelings for him.Hall has a demons of his own,he has no intention of ever putting another woman in danger.Shanele was a strong woman who refused to give in even when terrified and sexually objectified.This book contains graphic sex scenes and punishments of adult women.

If you like dark suspenses...then read it. I love Vonnaso it was a no brained for me.
It kept me in suspense and interested to continue reading. I looked forward to relaxing before bed and reading this book. The reason behind her capture was definitely surprising.
Good writing concerned Ms Harper's writing is becoming very formulaic this book is almost interchangeable with some of her other works. Heroine gave in too more build - up "will she give in (and what would it take) or won't she (and would Ms Harper write the H in light or resistance - how far would he go to get/earn her submission). Writing is solid with good flow for pace.
Shanel is abducted by Hall, who is working on behalf of a group trying to bring down the Takers, a group of powerful wealthy men who run an illegal pyramid scheme and also keep a small harem of abducted women to whom they do anything they please. Hall's intentions are to train Shanel, an ex cop, the fundamentals of sex slavery so she can go undercover to gather enough info to create a case against the men for the pyramid scheme. Some sections were a little difficult to read, but in my opinion, not overly so.
