Move over Mr. Bean. There is a new girl in town and when it comes to disasters she is a professional. Cici Carrington creates them out of thin air without even trying. Each chapter of the book is titled Cici vs. something/somebody. She never fails to deliver.Anyhow Cici is a mid-level manager of a small company. The book starts with a big corporation swallowing the said company whole and the resulting restructuring. Last day in the new office was over for Cici and she took the elevator down to go back home to her lonely life. Actually forget what I just said: she owned a tom cat Leroy and the guy was going well beyond his duty to make her life exciting. Any owner of a cat - including yours truly - will know exactly what it means.
Coming back to Cici the elevator got stuck between the floors in the empty building with all means of outside communication not working or not available. Stuck with her was a handsome stranger Cole not seen by the heroine before. After some meaningless banter, light snack consisting of some granola bars left in Cici's purse and napping the couple decided the best way to kill some time was to have sex - there was a mutual attraction.
The sex was great and the morning hours were coming, so it seemed Cici's misadventures were over. Little did she know they just barely started. First thing she realized in the morning after regaining her freedom was that Cole was her new direct subordinate. Full stop. Ask George Costanza about how it is not a good idea to have sex at the place you work (Seinfeld, ep. The Red Dot).
The situation was the following: two people were working together; they were also madly in love with each other and could not keep hands off each other. Add to this Cici's superhuman abilities and you might get the idea.
In case it was not clear it is a romance book. It also happened to be outrageously funny (I laughed out loud a lot). It is funny enough even for the people that are not into the genre to try it. If you are looking for a read with some deep meaningful philosophy which will turn your life around and make a Tibetan monk out of you, look elsewhere. If you just want to have fun, raise your spirits and laugh this might be the book you want to read. I quite like it.
Thanks again to my friend Patty for recommending the book. I was looking for something funny and this one delivered in spades.

Going Down The Elevator Series Book 1 edition by Katherine Stevens SM Lumetta Lauren Schmelz Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews
Note, you will laugh out loud...your coworkers will ask you what's so funny, and your boss will ask you if perhaps you need some busy work....
Fun and goofy book, lots of sexy thrown in! CiCi is a mess, but in a good way, Cole is hot and worth the risks! Maggie needs her own book! The only downside is the weird names for genitalia became cliche and lost some of the funny and Some scenarios seemed a little to similar to author romantic comedies I read.
Run...do not walk...do not stop on your way....just RUN to your favorite bookseller and order Going Down. Right Now. I laughed until I cried, then cried until I laughed. This book has it all - it's hilarious, but sentimental; a little angsty and a lot unexpected. The characters are so beautifully written and relatable they will hook you in and keep you guessing from beginning to end. Trust me, you don't want to miss this sexy, hilarious, totally satisfying story by one of the most talented new authors I've read in 2016. Katherine has secured her place as a one-click author for me and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.
I enjoyed this book immensely. It was hilarious and had me laughing so much my stomach hurt. With that being said, in this type of book all of the sex detracted from what would have been a great book. By no means am I a prude, but her performing fellatio and screwing this guy hours after having met him and then constantly in her office putting both her and his job at risk was a bit much for me to stomach. Yes, I understand attraction and being in love with someone, but it doesn't make you forget to have all common sense!
I enjoyed the premise of the book. Cole and Cici met in an elevator, the elevator breaks down and they get to know each other. (I will leave the cute details of the story for you to discover when you read this book). Cici then find out this cute man she met is her new assistant, which company policy prohibits the fraternization of employees. They keep their relationship a secret until Maggie the H/R director and Cici's friend finds out. Maggie lays into Cici with unkind personal words which I get, they were friends and Cici kept this from Maggie. Maggie threatens Cici which I thought was appropriate but Maggie did not give Cici a chance to explain. I thought Cici should have the right to explain. Cici and Maggie eventually make up and I still think Cici should have explained why she keep the secret but I guess it's not my story to tell. I thought the book was good worth the purchase and enjoyed some of the comedy and the twists and turns and the end of the story.
I expected to laugh but I didn't expect it to be from start to finish. Going Down was a riot. I don't think, to my recollection, that I've actually laughed so hard that it resulted in tears but it happened while I read this. At one point I almost choked on my coffee!
Cici, the female lead character, was a funny woman with verbal diarrhea. I enjoyed her so much. She had her quirks such as yelling former presidential names when she climaxed, yes I'm not kidding and it was hilarious! Her roommate was her one eyed cat Leroy who also had his quirks just like his owner. It was an exciting ride to watch Cici meet the attractive Cole and connect with him in a stalled elevator. I felt their attraction instantly and he was such a great opponent to Cici. Their relationship was romantic and funny.
Cici's best friend Maggie was hilarious too and also had her weird ways. They had their own way of communicating and it only added to the laughs.
Katherine Stevens definitely delivered a romance comedy that I fell in love with. Her writing was fresh, flawless and just flowed. I couldn't stop reading. She's definitely an author I'm going look out for in the future.
